EXTOD HCP: Fundamentals in Exercise and Type 1 Diabetes Care is delivered by EXTOD and organised by SBK Healthcare. This one-day training event is designed to equip healthcare professionals who are new to the topic or looking for a clear refresher with the core principles, practical tools, and confidence to support people with Type 1 diabetes to exercise safely and effectively.


Whether you work in adult or paediatric care, you’ll leave with a strong foundation in the basics of glucose management around exercise, plus clear, usable advice to apply in clinical conversations straight away.

Attending EXTOD HCP: Fundamentals will provide you with essential, evidence-based knowledge on managing Type 1 diabetes around exercise.   • The key challenges people with Type 1 diabetes face when exercising
  • Diabetes management insight from someone who exercises regularly with Type 1
  • Understanding exercise settings for pump and closed loop systems, and how to use them in practice

 

Fundamental workshops on:

  • Assessment, starting advice and using CGM for exercise
  • Basic insulin adjustments to improve glucose control around activity
  • Using exercise as a tool for glucose management: defining, using and refining approaches

 

Practical discussion-based sessions on:

  • Sports nutrition essentials: carbohydrate and protein to fuel performance and recovery
  • Supporting different exercise types across the week
  • Motivation and safety: helping people who are overweight to start and maintain exercise

EXTOD clinical faculty

The EXTOD Faculty Clinical Educators bring together experienced healthcare professionals and people with lived experience who are actively supporting individuals with Type 1 diabetes to exercise safely and confidently. Drawing on frontline clinical practice, education and patient engagement, the faculty focus on translating evidence into practical, person-centred advice that works in real-world settings.


Throughout the day, faculty members will lead interactive workshops and discussions, sharing practical strategies for glucose management before, during and after exercise, addressing common challenges faced in clinic, and supporting healthcare professionals to deliver confident, consistent and supportive exercise guidance.

Approximately one week prior to the conference you will be sent an email which will include all the final details for attendance on the day, including a final agenda and venue information.

Registration fees
You will be sent an instant payment option or invoice on registration. Your payment is required in advance. If your fee has not been received prior to the event, and you are not able to provide a PO or proof of payment, you will be asked to make a credit or debit card payment on the day.
 
Modify registration

To let us know if your details are not correct when you have already registered, please email bookings@sbk-healthcare.co.uk.
 
Cancellations and substitutions

A full refund of fees will be made only for cancellations received within the first 48 hours of the booking being made. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing by emailing the bookings team at SBK Healthcare. Should you need to cancel your registration after this date, the registration fee remains payable in its entirety although a substitution will be accepted and conference documentation will be provided. Substitution attendees for delegates unable to attend after registering are acceptable at any time.
 
Conference changes

It may be necessary for reasons beyond the control of the conference organisers to alter the content, speakers or the timing of the programme. We will endeavour to keep you abreast of such changes but any unavoidable change to the format will not constitute a reason to refund the fee. Should the event be postponed, we will endeavour to reschedule the event. If, for reasons beyond the control of the conference organiser, the event is cancelled, a full refund will be made. We do not accept any liability for any incurred costs resulting from a postponement or cancellation.

A certificate for Continuing Professional Development will be given to every attendee, as a record of continuing professional training and development.
